BearPaw Ranch began as a dream to own a property where families could come together at an affordable price point to enjoy animals as well as the natural world to make memories that will last a lifetime.
This dream became a reality in 2015 when we- a family of passionate nature and animal lovers purchased a 160-acre parcel of land with cabins and a group lodge.
10 Years of BearPaw Ranch
We’ve since renovated the accommodations and relocated the cabins to a secluded groove of birch and pine. 2020 Covid time actually spurred the idea of a petting zoo after our potbelly Pig Bella had piglets- we couldn’t keep the crowds away from them and we don’t blame them- piglets are hecking cute.
Over the last 5 years we’ve added a bunch of animals, Horses, mini horses, a llama, cows, goats, chickens, cats, dogs, pot belly & kune kune pigs, peacocks, bunnies and still have resident roaming turkey affectionately named Turkaletta.
While our animal crew grew so did the buildings: a BearSpaw Treatment Room, heated washrooms with coin showers and most recently in 2022 they built the BearSpaw Holistic Market- home to a Himalayan salt room, numerous crystals, fossils and metaphysical items, as well as items crafted by local artisans.
A Decade of Community Support
What grew most was the amazing community we’ve built by hosting yearly charity events, Craft & Spiritual Markets with games and activities for the whole family to raise money for our local community during the Summer and another in December at the DV Night Market in our off season. We think it’s important to give back to the wonderful community of Drayton Valley who has supported us for 10 years running as of April 2025 and we look forward to you joining us at any of our events, classes or retreats this year.

Laurie is a spiritually connected Mother, Momma (Grandmother), who’s family is her greatest joy . She takes care of the paperwork and other ranch tasks. Her wisdom garnered from diverse life experiences allows her to easily identify patterns of energy to shift for the highest good of her clients and family members – including the chosen family that she keeps just as close to her heart.

great food, playing games with good company and the natural world (especially crystals). She possesses an unquenchable thirst for continuous learning on self improvement and holistic practices

Amanda loves her husband (Blair), her family (both chosen and by blood). She keeps her inner child alive by being the “biggest kid in the family” as proclaimed by her son in grade 2. she runs the social media pages, and is an insightful Moonologist that Leads Moon Ceremonies, wrangles pigs, shaves Llamas and anything else our animals need all while humming a song that got stuck in her head.
She Is A Lover of:
Gummy candies, all animals (especially her potbelly pig Bella), being a competitive board game opponent, the Moon and all kinds of rocks and crystals, writing fantasy novels or meditations and anything poop.

Blair loves his wife (Amanda) and his family. Behind the scenes he keeps everything on the Ranch running smoothly by being the ” best Handy Hands that makes things” as proclaimed by his 4 year old Daughter. He is the wearer of all hats- from water management to animal wrangler and construction mastermind. He is the backbone of every build project, a night owl and master of averting disasters.
He Is A Lover of:
Spicy food , movie date nights with his wife, dad jokes and spending as much time as possible with his kids- especially outside. He enjoys building projects for his kids like an indoor rock wall and outdoor zipline.
